Barney Laurance was arrested on May 15th 2011 at a demonstration outside the Israeli Embassy to mark the anniversary of the Nakba - the founding of the state of Israel -which became a catastrophe for the Palestinians.
For having the temerity to argue with the police that another demonstrator should not have to be penned in to a confined space, Barney was arrested, handcuffed and subsequently convicted of obstructing an officer in the course of his duty.
Barney had to pay legal fees, costs and a fine amounting to a total of £1800. Barney works as part of a cooperative (Netuxo, which makes websites for progressive and non-profit organisations), and earns less than the average wage.
The above performers (including Ian Saville, Barney's dad) are putting on this benefit to help offset some of those costs.
Any extra funds will go to the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
